YOUR GRANDPARENTS’ GREENHOUSE WAS PROBABLY A CHRISTIE
In 1912, J&T Christie Ltd. of Dunedin crafted its very first glasshouse, measuring 18ft x 10ft (5.5m x 3m), for Mr. W.A. Scott, a bicycle shop proprietor. It was just the beginning of a legacy spanning generations.
Over the next 70 years, J&T Christie, initially a plumbing business, evolved into New Zealand’s largest manufacturer of glasshouses, garden sheds and sheet metal accessories. In 2012, the Christie business was taken under the wing of Allan’s Engineering and Sheetmetal Services of Dunedin, ensuring the tradition of quality continues.
